Light For A Dark World

Bible Passage: John 8:12-8:30

CONSIDER THIS

Jesus lives in the present. He doesn’t declare, “I was.” He has no rearview mirrors. Neither does He declare, “Someday I wanna be.” No. He does not change. He is the “I am” God.

We live in a dark world. Gloom and doom spouting up here and there. However, this is not new to 2022. Darkness is mentioned in the Bible about 200 times — it’s a metaphor to describe what life is like without God. Being in a dark place stinks.

The good news is: we don’t have to live in darkness. Hear the outstanding claim Jesus makes, “I am the light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12).

Jesus makes it clear: “I am the light of the world. I came to shine light into your darkness. I step into your darkness, not only to expose it but to dispel it.” Did you get that? From the center of your dark places, Jesus shouts, “I am!” He finds us and rescues us. We escape darkness simply by following the Light.

Yes! Follow Jesus and you will have the light that leads to life. Choose to be infected by His light, let it become a part of you — and you will never be the same.
