I Surrender All

Bible Passage: John 17:1-8

CONSIDER THIS

Here’s some great news! You are meant to be an overcomer, a victor, a conqueror. It starts with “I surrender all.” There is something God does in and through us when we choose to surrender everything to Him.

Our example is Jesus Himself. He not only shows us an intimate view of His prayer life, He  also shows us His heart — the heart of a real overcomer — as He prays to His Father.

What was the first thing Jesus did? He lifted up His eyes. He understood where His help came from — His Father, the One who is ready to pour out gifts upon us, if we only ask.

Jesus submitted fully to His Father’s sovereign plan. We can do the same. God’s plans are so much better than ours that, by golly, it ought to be a no-brainer to let go and allow God to be the One who is in control of our life. He truly knows what is best for us. So why do we cling so tightly to our feeble ways, thinking God needs our help?

The truth is: There is nothing more important than Jesus Christ. He is at the heart of how we should live. May the hunger of our heart be to know God better, to live a life that glorifies only Him, to finish the work He has given us to do, to desire to be with Him more than anything.

The question is: Do you want to surrender all to Jesus?

The choice is yours. It’s either: “I surrender mostly, sometimes, maybe, not really” — OR “I surrender all.” Only when we surrender everything can we have a heart of a real overcomer. Just like Jesus.
