Who is Jesus?

Bible Passage: John 2:1-11

CONSIDER THIS

Picture a group of ordinary guys on their first excursion, walking down a dusty road together. Their leader is confident, but unknown. They call Him Teacher, but His hands are rugged and calloused after years of working in a carpenter shop. Who is this man they are following? Jesus shows them by performing His first miracle. Of all settings, it takes place at a wedding.

Weddings were a big deal, back in the day, lasting a week. As the story goes, the wedding party ran out of wine. A huge snafu in those days. Mary simply states the problem to her son Jesus and tells the servants to do whatever He says. So Jesus does His first miracle quietly, involving only a few people, not drawing attention to Himself. No neon lights. No look at me. No hocus pocus. No big production. Jesus told some lowly, insignificant servants what to do. They obeyed. And it happened. Water turns into the best wine ever.

And His disciples believed in Him.

We, too, can entrust our problems to Jesus, big and small. He is God. He will take care of us and be our provider. Like the servants, you are significant to Him. He wants you to be a part of what He is doing. He wants you to know Him — and believe.
