When the Lord Stands By You

CONSIDER THIS

“What would you think if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?  Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song and I’ll try not to sing out of key.” We’ve most likely heard “A Little Help from My Friends” by The Beatles. Somehow we know we can get by when we’re not alone, when someone is with us. 

It is so good to know we are never alone. God Almighty is standing by us!

Take, for example, the apostle Paul. He had been jailed, beaten up and at death’s door more times than we have fingers and toes. He was flogged, beaten by rods, pummeled with rocks, shipwrecked, betrayed by so-called friends, endangered everywhere imaginable. He knew all about drudgery and hard labor and spent countless long and lonely nights without sleep. Too many times he should not have survived. Through it all, the Lord was standing by him. He was confident: God’s got this!

God is still faithful today. When things aren’t going how we expected, when all hope seems lost, when life seems the darkest it has ever been, we can be assured: the Lord is standing by us. He’s here, right now, to encourage, strengthen, hold us up, hold us together, and helps us press on!
