Bible Passage: Hebrews 11:1-13

CONSIDER THIS

If we are honest, we put our faith in plenty of menial meaningless things. We trust in such things as our bank account, public opinion, and the Nuggets will triumph over the Lakers — things that will surely let us down. (Well, hopefully the Nuggets will prevail.) The question is: Who do you trust?

Here in Hebrews 11, the writer records one of the greatest descriptions of faith in all the Bible. Check it out: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for. It is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

Our faith is based on a solid foundation of evidence, it’s real!

Faith is more than a belief in God. It is a way of life. In fact, faith is the unseen, unshakeable foundation of the Christian life.

There’s a stack of examples of how faith changed people’s lives dramatically. People like Enoch and Noah, Abraham and Sarah, and many more — including Bob*. They all have some things in common. First, God calls them to trust Him. Secondly, it’s a call out of their comfort zone.

They’re not the only ones called. God is calling you too. He wants to bring you to a place of total dependance on Him, to walk with Him, to live your life by faith in His faithfulness, the unseen unshakeable foundation — forever.

Mind you, it’s not about having faith in faith. It’s not about “Gimme more faith.” No, it’s not about the amount of your faith. It *is* the object of your faith that matters. God is the One who is always faithful. Simply obey Him, follow Him, and live the life of faith, every moment of every day. So when God calls you to go, you know you are not alone — our Almighty God is with you every step of the way!
