The Lord Over the Storm
The Lord Over the Storm
Bible Passage: Acts 27:27-44
CONSIDER THIS
Fourteen stormy days at sea, adrift who-knows-where, thrashed about by violent chaotic winds. Fourteen days of darkness, starvation and despair. Fourteen days battling colossal waves in a clunky Egyptian boat filled with terror-stricken sailors and passengers.
All but one.
One man, Paul, stands up in faith, a living faith, unshaken, breaks bread, gives thanks to God and passes it around. All 276 eat heartily. Did you get that? Paul is thanking God in the middle of the storm and it changes everything. The guys are now full of food, hope and encouragement.
There is so much more to the story. It all points to God has a real purpose for storms. Paul’s example shows us the significant impact one person can have, especially in the dark times. So the next time God sends you into the middle of a storm, stand up in faith, still trusting Him, still thankful. And see how God opens doors so others will discover Jesus.
Jesus faced our ultimate storm on the cross, saving us when all of our human efforts failed miserably. Since God saves us from death and destruction, He can carry us through any storm we will face in this life. He indeed steps into our storm and shows us He is Lord our storm.
