THE GOOD NEWS IS GOOD NEWS

On a deep cave tour in Missouri, people are warned just before they (temporarily) turn out the lights. You literally can’t see your hand before your face. And you think, what if I happened to be down here during a power failure?… Terrifying. You’d have to try to feel your way out somehow.
.
Paul spoke in Athens to people who had built an altar to “an unknown god.” He told them, the real God made humanity, intending them to “… seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him.” Paul adds, “Yet He is not far from each one of us…”. Punchy, vivid expression: “feel our way toward Him”. You don’t need to feel your way unless the lights are out or you are blind. Sounds like a game of blind man’s bluff.
Except that this is no game.
.
John described the world at large as “the darkness” into which Jesus came as “the Light.” (John 1:5). Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world that those who do not see may see…” (John 9:39a). And, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…”(John 14:9b). The world cannot see God even though He is all around us. We must “feel our way,” trying to find Him. It is impossible unless Jesus turns on the light and takes away our blindfold.
.
Remember, when we get the chance to introduce someone to Jesus, He might remove their blindfold, turn on the lights and introduce them to The Father. Remember, this is good news!
