The Girl Who Raised God
The Girl Who Raised God
Speaker: Mickey Lohr
Bible Passage: Luke 1:26-38
CONSIDER THIS
A surprise pregnancy, a sudden tax, a long road from Nazareth to Bethlehem on a donkey. Unpleasant and difficult, yet resulting in the world’s greatest miracle. Everything happened so this moment would happen.
Take a moment and consider Mary. A peasant girl. Young. Poor. Insignificant. Yet she was chosen to be the first to see baby Jesus face to face, to lovingly watch God sleep in a manger, to change the diapers of the Savior of the world. It was all a part of God’s plan to restore the broken and lost.
God writes His story with people, simple ordinary outcasts like Mary, a pipeline of His extraordinary grace. In God’s story, ordinary matters.
What was true for Mary, is true for us. God wants to use us. We may feel that our ability, experience or education makes us an unlikely candidate for God’s service. Bah humbug! No diploma, impressive resume or fat bank account required. The qualities God is looking for?
Want what God wants for your life
Trust God — He knows what He is doing
Rely on His power
Such great news: God can use us! May our response be just like Mary’s: “I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be according to Your word.”
