Jesus is Our Greater High Priest

CONSIDER THIS

God’s Word — His truth — is living and active. It’s a sharp sword that cuts deep and exposes our thoughts and intents of our hearts. Nothing is hidden from His sight. We lie naked and exposed before God. In that moment, aware of our nakedness, like Adam and Eve, we hide, we try to cover up. We prove our value and worth by performing, thinking we can do this on our own, leaving God out in the cold.

How dare we think we don’t need God? It’s pure rebellion. The truth is we are naked and exposed before God, as if there is a knife at our throat.

But look! We have a great High Priest, a God who descends to take our place. He sees the knife at our throat and says, “Not them. Me!” He was the One naked and exposed on a cross. He takes the knife for us and clothes us in His righteousness.

All this so we can draw near Him with confidence, we can enter into the presence of God. We clearly see our value and worth is in Him. We can experience His deep rest, His gift of true rest.

Jesus did it all…for you…and me.
