Bible Passage: Hebrews 2:5-18

CONSIDER THIS

Years ago, a cartoon depicted one of our presidents bidding farewell to U.S. troops leaving for war. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” he calls. The next frame is of one soldier saying, “We already are.”

Our Lord doesn’t stand back and say, “Good luck down there. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” No, He says, “I’ve come down. I’ve marched down the same road you’re marching. I’ve fought the same battle you’re now fighting. I know.”

In Hebrews 2, the writer demonstrates the genuine humanity of Jesus. He became one of us. And throughout, Jesus is greater.

  • Jesus, as a greater Man, came to restore what we originally were meant to be
  • Jesus as our Captain came to defeat death
  • Jesus as our Brother is not ashamed of us
  • Jesus as our High Priest knows us and rescues us

This is mind-bogglingly wonderful! We have a God who came down. He suffered and died and rose again. On purpose for a purpose. He is with us. He knows. C’mon, people, Jesus knows you! He knows your heart, your fears, your struggles, your circumstances. He knows what’s going to happen tomorrow. It’s all in His hands.

He knows. Whatever you are facing, whatever you are walking through, He knows. He is our God. He is available for you!
