Bible Passage: Psalm 23

CONSIDER THIS

A poem was written a thousand years before Jesus came to earth, a poem foretelling Jesus’ coming, a poem telling of our deepest hopes and fears, big and small, finding their resolution in Jesus. Here is a reconsideration of its words:

O Lord Jesus,
You are the One who cares for me the best
You give me everything I need
You take my hand and lead me
to quiet places of rest and peace
letting me catch my breath
and delight in Your presence
Your Spirit restores and renews
You guide me in truth
showing me the path to walk on
following You in the right things to do
being what I am designed to be
Even in the darkest valley
I won’t be afraid for You are close beside me
You protect and comfort me
Your goodness and unfailing love pursue me
Because of everything You have done —
tortured and mocked and dying a gruesome death —
I wlll live in Your house forever.

Our hopes and fears are all met in You
O sweet Savior
Our Shepherd
and Sacrificial Lamb
