Bible Passage: Galatians 3:25 - 4:11

CONSIDER THIS

Think about your birth date. What did you control on that day? Not much. Maybe how high and long you could scream. That’s probably about it. You had no choice who your mom and dad was going to be. No choice of gender, place of birth, color of eyes, IQ, name. It appears our initial identity is created somewhat by who is our family.

Suppose you were born a slave. Where would you be today? On the other hand, suppose you grew up a slave and a king found you, loved you and chose to adopt you into his family. What impact would that have?

That’s the genius of God’s plan. The first generation of Christians was a potential time bomb of conflicting cultures and backgrounds. Yet Jews stood next to Gentiles. Men worshipped with women. Wealthy and beggars both followed Jesus side-by-side. Can people of such diverse backgrounds and cultures get along with each other? The early church did.

And so it is today. We are all one in Jesus Christ, clothed in His righteousness, called a child of God, a rightful heir. An heir! Able to intimately cry out to Him, “Dada!” You have been claimed. Adopted. God’s very own child. You and Jesus share the same will, the same inheritance. Embrace your Dada! His arms are wide open for you.
