CONSIDER THIS

Joy. Everyone wants it. But where in the world can we find ever-lasting honest-to-goodness joy? What is the source of real joy? Jesus!

Think about it: Since no one can take Jesus from us, no one can take away our joy.

Joy is a big topic throughout the Bible, starting from the very first pages through the final words. Simply put: God wants us to be joy-filled. Yes, there is a time for grieving, sorrow and sadness. The psalmist David knew this, he experienced it first hand. In the midst of David’s personal struggle, when things seemed darkest and most uncertain, he wrote, “Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

Get the big picture. We may feel hopeless, discouraged and afflicted in the moment, but it is temporary. His joy is deep rooted. “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Joy comes from God. More than from Him, He is joy.
