Bible Passage: Acts 11:1-18
CONSIDER THIS
Have you ever shared something positive on social media and gotten stomped on by vicious responses? It’s nearly impossible to prepare for the brutal onslaught of opposition. You might be wondering what this was all about. So here it is. My post simply stated: “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” You can imagine the responses. You might be thinking of one of your own.
Peter knows what this feels like. God sent Peter to invite Cornelius to become a part of God’s family. The news spread quickly. These Jewish believers thought it was bad enough that a hated pagan Gentile, especially a Roman soldier who occupied their land, received Jesus — but their biggest issue was that Peter entered a Gentile home and ate a meal with them.
Peter graciously responds by telling them what God did. God’s grace is for every race. The good news message is for *all* nations, *all* people, in *all* times. It was His plan all along, to open the doors wide, inviting everyone to enter in.
Their first response may have been harsh criticism, but ultimately they respond in praise for what God had done. Their prejudices were replaced with God’s agenda, their hearts were changed by His heart.
No matter where you’ve been, no matter what you’ve done, it makes no difference to God. His message is for you. His door is open. It’s time to walk in!
