CONSIDER THIS

Silence is golden — for the parent who has just gotten her little ones to sleep, for the weary traveler who has finally reached home, for the student who is enjoying summer vacation away from the noise of the classroom.

Silence is not golden in a world gone mad.

Wickedness. Corruption. Immorality. Perversion. Self promotion. Sound familiar? It describes the city of Corinth, the commercial center of Greece, a city with the worst reputation chock full of everything disgusting. Look around. It’s not much different today. Our culture says, “It’s all about me! Do what you want to do! It’s my truth that matters.” Evil is not just embraced, it’s celebrated.

The Bible was written for times like these. Scripture exists to help us thrive as citizens of God’s kingdom as we live here on earth. In such times, our call is clear.

Don’t be afraid. Keep on speaking and do not be silent!

At times it’s easier to run and hide. But don’t! Always remember: We’re not alone! Ministry is done together. And better yet, the Lord shows up! He is with us! So speak up and share your faith. We’re not here to “impose” anything on the culture. We’re here to “propose” a new life with Jesus to the culture. We’re not here to declare war on the culture. We’re here to serve the culture with the love and transforming power of Jesus. That’s our mission. Let’s live it — and see what God will do!
