Alive Again

As the story goes, little Mick sadly discovers the family’s goldfish belly up in its fish bowl. The family gathers around the toilet for a ceremony. They dump Humphrey into the commode, watching him float upside down, preparing for a moment of silence before sharing a few words. When…what??..they couldn’t believe their eyes. Humphrey is happily swimming around and around. He’s alive again!

We once were dead, floundering upside down in sin. God made us alive again. Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate is wiped clean, the record held against us was nailed to the cross. He came to set the captives free from the dominion of darkness. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority. With the cross, He won the victory! It’s a picture of Jesus as our Triumphant Warrior King.

Jesus defeated sin and gives us a new heart.
Jesus defeated death, and makes us alive again.
Jesus defeated the enemy, and has set us free. 

Sin is forgiven. Evil is conquered. New life is available. What more is necessary? There is nothing that we can add. Christ has completed it all. He is more than enough!
