A Perfect Advocate
A Perfect Advocate

CONSIDER THIS
TV lawyers are amazing. In an hour, Perry Mason not only brilliantly gets his client set free, but always finds the guilty guys too — who confess in a puddle of tears and angst. Justice can be so dramatic.
The thing is, we know it’s true. Deep down inside we’re hiding secrets, guilt and shame. No doubt we are guilty. We all are! But it’s not about us. It is all about our perfect advocate — Jesus — because of who He is and what He has done for us. He stands in our place and intercedes for us. He is the only One who can give us the verdict we’re looking for. How can this be? He has already paid the price for us.
Max Lucado says it like this: When God looks at us, He sees Jesus first. In the Chinese language the word for “righteousness” is a combination of two characters, the figure of a lamb and a person. The lamb is on top, covering the person. Whenever God looks at you, this is what He sees – the perfect Lamb of God covering you.
We can’t do it on our own. We must turn to Him. Put our life in His hands. He is our ultimate Advocate — not only greater, but perfect. He is faithful and *just* to completely forgive. And then the moment arrives when we’ll hear the clanking of broken chains and hear The Judge say: Not guilty! No longer condemned. You are set free!
