In the darkness of night, as Paul is sinking deeper into despair and discouragement — that’s easy to do, isn’t it? especially in the isolation and silence of darkness — Jesus comes to Paul and stands near him. Paul had been delivered from jail cells before, so it was a sweet surprise when Jesus shows up. Jesus hadn’t forgotten Paul. He knows where Paul’s at and He knows exactly what Paul needs. He encourages him, he gives Paul courage.

God comes to us too and stands near us. He is with us. We are not alone. He knows what we’re going through. God is mighty and sovereign, no matter what may be going on around us, even when life seems impossible. We can be courageous. Hear His sweet encouraging words as He whispers directly into your heart. Turn to Him. He’s standing right there.
