Grace Storms

Bible Passage: Jonah 1

CONSIDER THIS

There’s a story about a little boy who knew he was in trouble. So what does he do? He runs away, finds a good hiding place, and closes his eyes as tight as he can. Surely if he can’t see his mom, then she can’t see him.

What a silly thing to do! So is running from God. Like Jonah did.

When God said “Go!” Jonah said “No!” And Jonah runs as fast and as far as he could to get away from God. Imagine that, trying to run away from the ever-present God. O sure, we can try to run from God, but God runs after us. He pursues and rescues. He is ever present.

You know the story: God stirs up a wild and raging storm, the sailors throw Jonah overboard and along comes a great fish on assignment from God Himself. Jonah sits in the fish’s belly  for three days and three nights.

When a seemingly out-of-control storm comes, it becomes a Grace Storm when we surrender to Him in the midst of it. So stop running. Turn to Him. Surrender. The best place to be is in God’s will.

We’re safer in the storm with God, than in the boat without Him.
