Jesus is Greater Than...Angels

Angels are everywhere. Billy Graham wrote a book about them. Clarence became one in the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” No doubt Leissa Pickering could make a stunning set of angel earrings, other jewelers have. Perhaps when you were a kid, you had a picture of an angel watching over two children as they crossed over an old rickety falling-apart wooden bridge hanging in your bedroom. 

All around us there’s a supernatural world, an invisible world, a spiritual world filled with angels. The Bible mentions angels nearly 300 times.  However, angels work undercover. They don’t draw attention to themselves, they just get the job done. Angels are great.

You know who is greater? Jesus.

The guy who wrote Hebrews is almost daring you to look back to the Old Testament and find one place where God refers to the angels as greater than Jesus. You won’t find it. In fact, the writer quotes seven Old Testament verses to make his point that Jesus is superior to the angels. Read all about it in Hebrews 1:3-14.

Our hope is not in angels. Our hope is in the One who is greater.
