He Never Disappoints
Bible Passage: Luke 19:28-44
CONSIDER THIS
He may have looked ordinary, but He was extraordinarily focused. As He leaves Jericho for Jerusalem, He ignores all the noise and distractions. He has a purpose. And the end is near. Hinged on this week is the door of eternity, fulfilling ancient prophecies and a plan made before time began. Now, all eyes are on Him.
It’s a pivotal moment: Jesus, the humble King, intentionally enters Jerusalem to confront sin as He begins His final journey to the cross.
Imagine the scene. The streets are overflowing, people are celebrating and shouting and waving palm branches. Expectations are at an all time high. “Jesus is coming! Surely He is the One who will overthrow the Romans and set us free. He is our only hope!”
And Jesus enters, riding a lowly donkey — a colt that has never been ridden, provided by God in an unusual, unexpected way. Yet this stubborn animal becomes calm and submissive as he carries Jesus through the city. All this to show God’s provision — there will be a “donkey” in our life when we need one!
It doesn’t take long. People recognize He isn’t fulfilling their agenda or meeting their political expectations. One moment they are cheering “Hosanna,” and the next, there are chaotic shouts of “Crucify Him!”
If they had only known the cross was His purpose all along, they would have realized He never disappoints.
