God’s Faithful in Dark Times

Bible Passage: Lamentations 3:1-26

CONSIDER THIS

The book of Lamentations is a raw, tear-stained funeral song written by Jeremiah, after Babylon completely destroys Jerusalem. Jeremiah feels deep grief and cries out in pain: “He turns His hand against me again and again, all day long.” That is real heartache, a very dark and desperate time.

Yet right in the middle of all the rubble and tears, we find Jesus.

Hear Jeremiah’s words:
“The LORD’s love never ends
His mercies never stop
They are new every morning
Great is Your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The LORD is mine so I hope in Him.
It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.”

Ultimately, centuries later, Jesus did come to Jerusalem — to die, to restore our relationship with God, and bring victory on the cross. He is our salvation.

In the dark moments, we can bring our heavy hearts and sadness to Him. He is the One who carries our grief and sorrow and gives us hope. We can wake up and discover His kindness and endless grace early every morning. And rest in His great faithfulness.
