CONSIDER THIS
Whether we recognize it or not, our lives are affected by others. From the brilliance of Thomas Edison, an inspirational musician, a petty thief, a loving family and friends, even a smile from a stranger — countless people profoundly impact our lives.
Only two people impact every person in the world — and they’re found in the Bible: Adam and Jesus.
In Adam, we glimpse the goodness and greatness that God intended for everyone. Yet, he messes it up for everyone — and sin, condemnation and death come into the world. Immediately, God reveals His plan to redeem His fallen creation, starting with a promise found in Genesis. Adam who got us unto this, also points us to the One who gets us out. This is when it all begins, where we see Jesus in the Old Testament. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear the whispers that the King is coming!
King Jesus is the second Adam, the greater Adam, the better Adam who came to save and redeem what Adam destroyed and gives us right standing with God.
As the apostle Paul says, “One mess-up made everyone guilty, but one good act makes everyone right with God and gives them life.” (Romans 5:18) Adam and Jesus are deeply connected — one brings death, Jesus brings life.
