Book: Zephaniah

Bible Passage: Zephaniah

CONSIDER THIS

When we think of the Old Testament prophets, we usually picture a lot of finger-pointing, warnings, and doom. Zephaniah definitely has those moments. But right at the end, the clouds break, and this verse pops out:

“The Lord has taken away your punishment, He has turned back your enemy. The King of Israel, the Lord, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.”

This is a beautiful shadow of what Jesus did on the cross. We had a death sentence hanging over our heads, but Jesus steps in and takes away our punishment. He defeats our ultimate enemies — sin and death — and closes the distance between us. Because Jesus is with us, we never have to live in fear anymore.

But it gets even better.

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

What a mind-blowing description of Jesus’ heart for us. He is our Mighty Warrior, fighting our battles, our strong protector, saving us. He loves us so much, He celebrates us by singing — He sings! Hear His song in your heart today.
