The Quiet Sovereignty of God
The Quiet Sovereignty of God
Bible Passage: Esther
CONSIDER THIS
Look as much as we like, God’s name does not appear, not once, in the entire book of Esther. But His fingerprints are all over it, proving He’s never silent or missing at all. God is actively sovereign, turning the ordinary into a display of His unstoppable plan of redemption.
Every page we turn, we see a powerful picture of Jesus:
- Esther literally risks it all, stepping into the throne room to save her people, famously saying: “If I perish, I perish.” While she went to an earthly king for mercy, Jesus went to the cross, and did perish for us, taking the death penalty Himself to secure our salvation.
- Esther was a deliverer to save her nation; Jesus is *the* Deliverer who saves *all* people.
- Esther was a mediator between the king and the people. Jesus is our Mediator with God.
- Every Jew in Persia found hope because their friend was close to the throne. We have even greater hope because our Friend is the King of kings who sits on the throne.
Even when we may not see God’s hand, may not hear His voice, may feel exiled in a “Persian” world — trust His heart. His hand is on our life. Our future is never a mystery to Him; it’s already history. He is the author and finisher of our faith, working, right now, in our life.
