Missionaries are Weird

CONSIDER THIS

Missionaries are weird. That’s what our visiting missionary Clinton Moore said on Sunday. Missionaries don’t fit in. They look different. They talk different. It’s just weird. He shared stories about four people who work at their community center called The Space. These four stories tell about four things we might want more of in our lives.

Listen to the whispers of the Spirit, hear what He has to say.

  • P Sai (As “the mother of the house” she cleans and prepares the facilities) First and foremost she passionately prays, an hour each day, that her family, community, and country will know the goodness of Jesus.
  • Faa Sai (Operations Manager) She steps out of her comfort zone, learns how to play guitar, singing and writing songs to Jesus — and now leads the Thai worship.
  • Sithu (The Fix-It Guy) His wife Rose expresses deep gratitude by making The Space team a Burmese feast — and says, “You gave my husband more than a job, you gave him a family.”
  • Kannika (Cafe Manager) She’s willing to step out, setting her reputation aside, boldly proclaiming Jesus everywhere she goes.

Like them, we can be signposts that point to Jesus. As signposts we should stand out, perhaps by spending more time with Jesus, stepping into the unknown, becoming family to somebody, sharing His message, whatever He may be whispering to you right now — even if it makes us look a little weird to the world.
