Jesus The Suffering Servant

CONSIDER THIS

It’s like reading an eyewitness account at the foot of the cross. It shows Jesus as the ultimate Suffering Servant — a Savior who quietly steps into our mess, takes our pain, heals our brokenness, and trades His life for ours. Startling, the words are found in Isaiah 53.

“Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this? He was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. The fact is, it was our pains and sorrows and weaknesses He carried. It was our sins that did that to Him, that ripped and tore and crushed Him. Our sins! He took the punishment and made us whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. Many were amazed when they saw Him. His face was so disfigured, He seemed hardly human, and from His appearance, one would scarcely know He was a man.” [MSG]

How did Jesus endure being treated like this? He could have quit and walked away. But He didn’t. Why? One word. Love. His love for us kept Him going.

Think about that for a moment. Immerse your thoughts in His love. His love covers all our flaws, past mistakes and pain. His love covers every secret, every worry, all of our grief and sorrow. His love covers all things. His love brings peace to our hearts and lives — and inspires us to share that same love with others.
